One Movement Sports Festival

One Movement festivals are part of the larger In the Parks programme. In the Parks was set up with the aim of bringing a series of free, fun, mass participation, multi-sport style festivals to local people and parks around the main Olympic Park, to engage and enthuse young people and their families in sports taster sessions with a view to encouraging longer term participation.
Sports Club Development

The One Movement festivals will act as a launch-pad for sustained work with the sports clubs showcased at the festivals. We have devised a club development offer with a 3 pronged approach consisting of Club Leader Mentoring, business skills training workshops and finally placing business volunteers into the clubs throughout the year.
Business Volunteering

From coaching to bringing on the half time oranges, and first aid to fundraising, there’s a huge variety of interesting roles you can do.
In The Parks
In the Parks is an initiative funded by the Olympic Lottery Distributor, developed by East London Business Alliance to capitalise on the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The project aims to increase sporting participation for local young people living in the 5 Olympic boroughs and enhance community sporting provision. The plan is to deliver a number of free mass participation multi-sport community games style festivals, to local young people and their families. It also provides local sports clubs the opportunity to showcase their sport to young people from the community. The young people are encouraged and supported to join the sports club in order to realise their sporting potential.
Project objectives
Get more young people active and participating in sport:
The role of In the Parks is to provide a platform for all the local sports clubs and agencies delivering sport in the local area, enabling them to work in partnership to provide opportunities for young people to take part in sport.
Strengthen the sporting infrastructure by building the capacity and skills of people working in sport:
Coach and volunteer education and development is paramount to the advancement of sport in East London. As part of the club development support, the capacity and skills of those within the sports clubs will be further enhanced through our business volunteer programme.
Ensure local young people try out the 7 sports which link to the use of the 5 Olympic venues in legacy mode:
By hosting multi sports events in each of the boroughs during Games time, In the Parks provides a clear opportunity to introduce young people to the different sporting activities which will be played in the legacy venues.
